Heading for the Southland!

Day 1 of Snowbird Adventures

Getting ready for Southbound trip
Getting ready for Southbound trip

We left early on Sunday morning, January 27th, it was time for us to be heading for the Southland, becoming Snowbirds at last, heading for Florida.  We have stops planned for the KoA Nashville – East  (Lebanon, TN) and KoA in Ozark, AL).  Leaving early on a Sunday morning, certainly made the driving much easier going straight through Cincinnati as opposed to the I-275 around the city and much shorter too!

Overall the first leg of the trip was good, only issue was finding the KoA!  The GPS got confused and wasn’t even close the the programmed destination.  We wound up on very small streets and really tight turn a rounds.  But, we found it and were happy with the facility, local food, fuel and easy access to the interstate that took us around Nashville, vs going through it on a Monday am!

Day 2

The 2nd day was a fairly easy drive and we arrived at the KoA mid-afternoon in Ozark, Al and ate at the local restaurant called “Our Place Diner“.  Sort of a down-home, good ol’ boy,  family owned place.  Great food!

Final Day

The last day and leg of the trip, we looked at the map and considered going the traditional I-10 East to I-75 South or I-10 to US 98 and cut off a lot of miles off the trip.  But we didn’t know the road nor what we would find!

As it turned out, US 98 was a great road, much like US 35 going through Dayton heading Eastbound.  We calculated we would have  plenty of fuel to make it from the Pilot/Flying-J on I-10 – Tallahassee to Spring Hill.  Will certainly use that route again.

We arrived mid-afternoon on the 29th, added 2 additional days to our site rental and setup our campsite.

    1. It’s a start Gary! This is v2 of the site, I didn’t do very well on the first one. So, I took some online training and it made all the difference.

      1. I concur.
These entries are well written and interesting and give nice information along with the story. That way, if somebody sees something they want to check out they have the data they need.
        Well done, Joe!
