Lunch with Mr. Collins

On Thursday February 22, 2018, four members of the WCHS Class of 65 “Thirsty-Thursdays” crew met with our beloved Sr. English teacher, Mr. David Collins for lunch at Los Margueye’s Mexican Grill in New Port Richey, Florida.  Another classmate, Dennis Cartwright (who also lives in New Port Richey) made time in his schedule to come and join us as well.

David Collins & his friend Sandi,  Penny (Cooper) Gavin, myself, Cindy (Zender) Combs, Jim Combs and Dennis Cartwright all took turns talking about the good -or- bad old days (depending on the viewpoint) struggling with term papers, both in high school and college.

During lunch, Mr. Collins gave us a rare insight into his teaching process as well as his experiences when he was a student at Anderson College.  It was very interesting indeed and I believe everyone had a great time at lunch.

Dennis and I took some time to act as I.T. advisers to Mr Collins to get his phone in some semblance of order.   🙂

All of us owe a debt of gratitude to him, because in our cases, he gave us the right skills to get through freshman English in college.

  1. It was really a fun lunch! And I loved learning more about the man who was the teacher. Already looking forward to next year’s lunch!
